An early 20th-century lithograph on laid paper titled Élévation Orientale Restituée de la Petite Galerie du Louvre after engravers A. Soudain and Guillaumot, created after a design by A. Berty, and originating from the late 19th-century French publication Topographie Historique du Vieux Paris. The piece depicts an architectural intaglio image of the Louvre Museum’s Galerie d’Apollon, formerly called ‘La Petite Galerie du Louvre’. The print is titled and attributed in plate to the lower margin. It is matted in grey and presented under acrylic glazing in a gilt wooden frame with beaded accent, fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- discoloration and fading to print; foxing to edges; vertical crease present through center; several horizontal creases; frame is good to fair with edge wear, scratches and scuffing present; tears and water stains to lower portion of frame’s backing paper.
