A bronze Darwin chimpanzee sculpture. The chimpanzee holds a human skull in one hand, echoing the famous scene from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, while seated on a stack of books. This piece is reminiscent of a late 19th-century bronze sculpture by German artist Hugo Reinhold titled Affe mit Schädel ( Ape with Skull). Marked, ‘Made in China’ to the underside.
