Vintage Dayton Acme Optical Projection Pointer

A vintage Dayton Acme optical projection pointer. This unit, a precursor to the modern laser pointer, features a cylindrical wand which is focused by turning the front end, and turned on and off with a control switch at the corded end. The cord extends from the control switch to a large resistor in a cage, which has a second cord to plug into an outlet. The entire unit is presented in a black case with an instruction label affixed to the inside of the hinged lid. The instruction label is stamped ‘DACO Dayton Acme Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A. Model 2A’, the wand has the DACO information embossed on one side, and the top of the case has a metal tag which reads ‘Pointer, Optical Projection Order No. W535-AC-23317 Specification (blank) Dayton Acme Co. Cincinnati, Ohio’.

- untested. Some dust and residue. Case has broken handle.
