Vintage Finely Hand-Knotted Persian Nain Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Nain area rug. This finely knotted rug features a central pendant star medallion in midnight blue, indigo and mocha with a dense arabesque pattern in the field. The medallion is set in a frame of trefoil edging in blue over the ivory-colored ground, with large elaborate spandrels in the field colors. Framing the field is a wide primary border of elegant palmettes and split leaf forms, flanked by matching floral guard borders. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with ivory warp fringe at each end and a label to the verso indicating country of origin.
