Vintage Finely Hand-Knotted Sino-Persian Wool Prayer Rug
Item Details
A vintage finely hand-knotted Sino-Persian wool prayer rug. This area rug features a Kerman style, and is rendered in a palette of ivory, sky blue, indigo, rose, cranberry, sage, apricot, and mauve. The ivory colored field features a single mihrab with a large of tree of life image heavily embellished with floral motifs, and elaborate bird motifs. Framing the field is an ornately designed main border with flower filled vases and blossoms, along with a pair of floral meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a fine warp fringe to the ends, as well as a label to the underside.
