Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Sarab Carpet Runner
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Sarab carpet runner. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of camel, scarlet, midnight blue and cream. It begins with four hexagonal pole medallions over a camel-colored field. Populating the medallions and the field are a variety of geometric elements including arrows, ashik motifs, blossom clusters, flowering plants and abstract motifs. The field is framed by three borders, including a central border grounded in cream, featuring a star and split-leaf meandering pattern and minor borders grounded in scarlet featuring abstract geometrics and tulip-heads. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with off-white cotton warp fringe. The rug is labeled ‘Made in Iran’ on the reverse.
