Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Tabriz Wool Area Rug

Item Details

A vintage hand-knotted Persian Tabriz wool area rug. The rug has been woven in a palette which includes rose, lavender, sage, leaf, black, robin’s egg blue, camel, cinnamon, lapis, aqua, cornsilk, blush, periwinkle, and amber. A large lobed pendant medallion anchors a carotuche field in rose. Sprays of leaves frame the medallion. The spandrels are infilled with palmette and lance leaf motifs, as are the areas outside of the cartouche. There are carnation and meander guard borders flanking a richly colored herati primary border. The selvedges are overcast and there is short fringe at each end. Unmarked.
