A hand-knotted Persian Arak carpet runner. This wool rug features a floral medallion with attached pendants to the center field worked in azure, rose, green, honey, chocolate and indigo over a crimson ground. The surrounding field is populated with vase forms, floral sprays, palmettes and tree forms. Layered spandrels join the field infilled with more floral elements framed by zig-zag and floral meander borders. Selvedges are overcast, finishing with natural knotted fringe to either end. Labeled with a tag to the verso indicating country of origin.
