Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Karaja Heriz area rug. This wool rug features a directional tribal design to the center field worked in shades of rosewood, azure, ivory, black, merigold and plum. It begins with a star pendant to the top and a large eight pointed star to the center geometrically formed and surrounded by tree forms and floral motifs. Two spandrels incorporate rectilinear and quatrefoil designs using three color coordinates. Framing the rug is a checked border and main border with mosul patterns grounded in ivory and a Laleh Abbasi guard border. Selvedges are overcast, finishing with short knotted fringe at each end. Labeled with a tag to the verso indicating country of origin.
