A collection of Mid Century Modern pottery. This collection of five pieces includes a Upsala Ekeby round shallow terracotta bowl that is marked ‘UE, Sweden 43130/541 M’ to the underside. Also included is a terra-cotta vase that has a black with blue dots and striped glaze; a light blue vase with a ribbed texture marked ‘432175 R’ to the underside; and a square shaped vase with applied dot texture marked ‘3058’ to the underside. Also included in the collection is a signed, hand thrown round stoneware vase with mosaic marbled neriation mosaic technique by French ceramicist Jean Gerbino.

Jean Gerbino (French, 1876-1966) researched and worked on a specialized technique of marbleized mosaic ceramics for fifteen years before it was finalized in 1930, keeping the technique secret. In 1931. He won the Lépine de Paris Competition for French inventors award and has won a list of numerous awards until his death in 1966. This marbleized mosaic technique has been passed down through four generations of the family and is still produced in Vallauris, France today.
