Hand-Knotted Kurdish Wool Mat
Item Details
A hand-knotted Kurdish wool mat. The piece has been woven using shades of madder, shrimp, navy, indigo, buff, green, aqua, wine, gray, and robin’s egg blue. A lozenge medallion infilled with a gul surrounded by stylized floral motifs is surrounded by serrate bands on a scarlet field further populated by eight-pointed star medallions. Narrow checked guard borders and slender single color bands abut a border which features boteh. The selvedges are overcast and there is short fringe at each end.
