Hand-Knotted Tribal Wool Mat
Item Details
A hand-knotted wool mat. The small nearly square carpet has been worked in abrash shades of coral, scarlet, clementine, cobalt, shrimp, pink, teal, heliotrope, spring green, ivory, charcoal, and buff. The use of vivid colors emphasizes the animated design. A central gul set on a corner is surrounded by lance leaves, crab-like motifs in different colors, and stylized geometric floral motifs on the scarlet field. The compound borders include reciprocal and barber pole guard borders which flank a wider band infilled with stylized hearts and flowers. The selvedges are overcast and there is short fringe at each end.
