An 19th-century watercolor painting on paper by well-listed American artist George Emerick Essig (New Jersey/Pennsylvania; 1838 – 1926). This piece depicts a seascape with a lone seagull playing in the surf and sailboats on the horizon. It is signed in paint to the lower right and dated 1888. This work is presented behind a white mat with a gold tone fillet and a silver tone painted wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- minor discoloration to paper; accretion under glass; wear to edges and corners of frame, some finish loss to frame.
