1939 Homer Laughlin Martha Washington Ceramic Character Pitcher

A vintage Martha Washington ceramic character pitcher made for the 1939 New York World’s Fair. It was slip cast in high relief and made by the Homer Laughlin Company, fired on site in the American Potter Exhibition at the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair. These were popular souvenirs for patrons viewing the exhibit, demonstrating how pottery was produced. The exhibit was sponsored by many of America’s most noted ceramic producers, including Homer Laughlin, Hall and many more.
