An oil painting on canvas titled The China Rooster by listed American artist Benjamin J. Beck (Illinois/Nebraska; 1875 – 1950). This loosely rendered still life depicts a sculpture of a rooster next to a low dish of fruit and a glossy blue vase filled with white flowers, a pair of curtains hanging to the background. The piece is signed and dated 1932 to its lower right and is mounted in a wooden frame with a hanging wire and an exhibition label to its verso along with a hand notation of the title.

- holes in canvas, with some patches to verso; discoloration to verso of canvas; labels affixed to lower corners of painting; cracking to paint throughout; surface wear with finish loss to frame.
