Antique Swedish M96 Bayonet in Scabbard with Leather Frog
Item Details
An antique Swedish M96 sword bayonet in scabbard with leather frog. This single-edged bayonet entered production in 1896 for the Swedish M96 Mauser rifle, and was produced by Eskilstuna Jernmanufakuraktiebolag AB (Eskilstuna Iron Manufacturing, Inc.) for its first fourteen years; this piece was created between 1905 and 1913. This bayonet has a ridged metal grip, an angled mounting lug to the pommel, and a single-edged fullered blade, marked at the ricasso with the manufacturers’ ‘EJ AB’ logo. The bayonet is marked as number 5109 of the first 10,000 made to the underside of the ricasso, and was assigned to rifle 942 of D Company, 6th Regiment of the Swedish military, as marked to the guard. Also included is a steel scabbard fit within a leather belt frog.
