A 1973 watercolor painting on paper of a landscape by listed artist Guy Ribes (b. 1948). This Impressionist style painting is composed of pooled, cool pigment accented with brown spatters and thin brush strokes to depict a calm body of water jutting up against a grassy bank. To the lower right corner is a dated artist signature. The painting is presented under glass beneath linen matting in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Guy Ribes is a former master art forger who played Renoir painting on a canvas in Gilles Bourdos’ 2013 film Renoir. The artist was also hired to produce re-creations of Renoirs paintings that were featured in the film. He is known for his compositions painted in various modern art styles including impressionism, post-impressionism, fauvism, and cubism.
