Antique "Pompeii" Cast Iron Mantel Clock by Ansonia Clock Co.

Item Details

An antique Pompeii cast iron mantel clock by Ansonia Clock Co., circa late 19th to early 20th century. The iron, socle-form case is painted black with silver-tone, cast metal mounts, including Egytian ibises and Classical, female busts. It is further embellished with gilt, floral motifs surrounding the double-sunk, enamel dial. The dial features Roman numeral markers and an open escapement behind a conforming, beveled glass door. The brass works are stamped ‘Ansonia Clock Co. / New York, U.S.A. / Patented June 14, 81’ and ‘Patented June 13, 1882’. The lot also comes with a pendulum.
