John Ruthven Vintage Limited Edition Offset Lithograph "Bald Eagle"

A 1966 signed, limited edition offset lithograph titled Bald Eagle after an original painting by well-listed renowned American wildlife illustrator and naturalist John A. Ruthven (Cincinnati, born 1924). The prints depicts a solitary bald eagle, with a commanding presence, perched the branch of a pine tree branch. The work is signed, including a personal inscription from the artist, in pencil as well as within the plate to the lower right. It is numbered 363 out an edition of 1000 to the lower left, just above the printed title and a small hand-drawn eagle standing on the ground with spread wings. It is presented behind a white mat with an olive green liner, under glass, in a dark wood frame with olive green and gold-tone borders. It is ready to hang with a wire.

Ruthven (1927), born in Cincinnati, studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and became referred to as “the 20th century Audubon” due to the fact that he researched his subject thoroughly then masterfully depicted wildlife in great and exact detail.
