Antique Buff & Buff Manufacturing Company Surveyor Transit Instrument
Item Details
An antique surveyor transit instrument by Buff & Buff Manufacturing Company. This surveying transit level or theodolite is designed to rest on a tripod stand and is marked with a brass tone plaque which reads ‘Buff & Buff Mfg. Co., 22550, Boston’. The tool is presented in a wood case with two hook latch closures which opens to reveal a paper insert affixed to the inside of the lid. The insert includes instructions with a brief background on the Buff & Buff company of Jamaica Plains.
Condition
- untested; loss of finish; discoloration; tarnishing; heavy chipping and surface markings to wood; no key for box; foxing on paper label insert.
