A restrike etching on paper titled Frontispiece: Reincarnations du Pere Ubu (No.I) after well-listed French artist Georges Rouault (1871 – 1958). This Expressionist piece depicts an anguished figure standing beside a tree in a landscape with hills in the distance. The work is stamped ‘Vient de Paraître’ in red ink to the lower left. It is presented unsigned under a mat and glass in a wood frame.
Condition
- to fair; warping to paper; areas of ink oxidizing throughout; surface wear with finish loss to edges and corners of frame; hanging wire is unattached; some damage to backing paper.
