1853 Watercolor Attributed to George Barnard "The Chateau de Chillon"

An antique 1853 watercolor on paper titled The Chateau de Chillon attributed to George Barnard (English, died 1890). This English piece depicts a Swiss landscape with the medieval fortress Chillon Castle at the lower left corner and Lake Geneva dominating the foreground. Tall mountains appear in the background, and the artwork is hand signed and dated in graphite to the lower left corner. It is presented under glass, matted and set in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to verso as well as artist information furnished by the Knowlton Collection.

Consistent with age; minor marks to frame; minor damage to paper backing
