Antique Cast Iron Wood Burning Range by Olds and Whipple
Item Details
An antique wood burning range by Olds and Whipple. The Richmond No. 2A stove features a cast iron form with elaborate embossed scroll and acanthus leaf designs, pierced accents to the tray beneath the oven door, ridged designs to the edges, and a central fan to the base above the cabriole legs with pad feet. The back of the range offers a silver tone fan, acanthus leaf, and figural design and an oval medallion with scrolls over an urn with a beaded border. The piece presents six burners, an oven, and a wood burning compartment. The stove was produced in the 1870-80s and is marked ‘Olds & Whipple/Hartford Connecticut.’ The back of the range top reads ‘June 16 1875.’
