Vintage Florence Harding Memorabilia Including 1921 "McCall's" Magazine

Item Details

A selection of vintage memorabilia featuring First Lady Florence Harding (1860-1924). Included is an original July 1921 issue of McCall’s magazine, featuring an article titled Mrs. Harding of Main Street Moves Into the White House by William H. Crawford. It includes a personal message from the First Lady, wife of Warren G. Harding, who served as the 23rd President of the United States between 1921-1923. A black and white photograph of the First Lady without her trademark pince-nez spectacles, accompanied by a notecard, is also included. A suffragist and the business manager of her husband’s small-town newspaper, Florence Harding was an activist First Lady. She broke many precedents, among them writing a brief article in a public forum, the popular women’s magazine McCall’s. Harding was known for her elegant parties and was the first First Lady to vote.
