Item Details
A handwoven Scandinavian area rug. This wool rug is flatwoven in a palette of ivory, periwinkle, gray, azure, rose and apricot. It features a geometric design beginning with an open ivory field variegated with light blue, with stepped edges. The field is framed by two rows of stepped diamonds, one band grounded in gray, with cruciforms in the center, the outer grounded in ivory, enclosing smaller stepped diamonds and squares. A woven signature at the lower right corner reads ‘HS.’ Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
