Hand-Knotted Chinese "Vase" Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Chinese area rug. This wool rug features a classic vase design in a palette of scarlet, ivory, powder blue, azure, pink, tan and sage. It begins with a round scrolled floral medallion at the center of a scarlet field. Surrounding the medallion are eight discrete floral clusters. Each corner features two vase forms amid florals. The field is framed by compound borders, including a Kangxi fret pattern over azure and a meandering floral pattern over ivory. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
