An 1827 copy of the ‘Essex Register’ discussing the invalid first union between Andrew and Rachel Jackson and an offset lithographic print after a portrait of Rachel Jackson. The newspaper dated July 2, 1827 features an article stating the facts regarding the first union between Rachel and Andrew Jackson which was invalid due to her marriage at the same time to Captain Lewis Robards. Also included is an offset lithographic print of a portrait of Rachel Jackson, after the original painted by Ralph Eleaser Whiteside Earl, presented in a dark stained wooden frame.

Condition

- newspaper shows foxing and discoloration, tears and missing pieces to edges and corners. The offset lithograph shows wear to edges and corners of frame. Spots and cracking on image due to condition of painting at time of print.
