Vintage Sterling Silver Gold Washed Day of the Dead Brooch
Item Details
A vintage artisan-made sterling silver gold-washed brooch depicting Mictecacihuatl, who reigned as queen on the underworld according to Aztec mythology. The goddess and her husband preside over festivals commemorating the Day of the Dead. She is often represented with an open mouth through which she swallows the stars each morning.The large brooch has a three-dimensional design atop panels with applied wire work. The piece is unmarked and unsigned.
