An oil painting on canvas of a landscape by French artist Eugène Galien-Laloue (1851-1941) signed with his pseudonym ‘Dumoutier’. This work depicts a rural town with buildings next to a calm stream. The composition is rendered under cloudy skies with a setting sun. This work is signed ‘Dumoutier’ to the lower left corner, which was one of many pseudonym’s used by the artist during his career. It is presented without glass in a gilt frame with bead moulding. Hanging hardware is present to the verso.
Condition
- mild discoloration to image; craquelure present at top center of image; light line running across top of the piece; minor wear to frame.
