A hand-knotted Persian Tabriz wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, indigo, ivory, rose, sky blue, sage, saffron, ochre, aqua, olive, and teal. The indigo colored field begins with a bold pendant medallion, and is densely populated with geometrically shaped palmettes, flowering vines, leaves, and vase forms with large arrangements. The field also features ivory grounded spandrels infilled with hooked forms, cartouches, and multiple floral motifs, with serrated edges. Framing the field is a unique unresolved main border with large palmettes, blossoms, serrated leaves, and flowering branches, along with a pair of floral meander guard borders, and sawtooth minor borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and an ivory cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
