Hand-Knotted Pictorial Wool Mat
Item Details
A hand-knotted pictorial wool mat woven in shades of leaf, clementine, chestnut, ivory, russet, black, robin’s egg blue, olive, and gray. A depiction of a woman holding the bridle of a bay horse is framed by four bands that make up the border. A band of lobed flowers on a russet background abuts a sawtooth band in complementary orange and blue shades which is repeated on the outer edge against a carnation meander band. The selvedges are overcast and there is short fringe at each end. An unrelated temporary retailer’s tag is stapled to the underside.

- some pile wear; despite the label, we do not believe this rug to have been made in Pakistan.
