Edie Harper Limited Edition Serigraph "Copycats"

Item Details

Paper
By Hand

A signed, limited edition serigraph titled Copycats by well-listed Cincinnati artist Edie Harper (1922 – 2010), created in 1987. The playful image depicts a large geometric tiger resting in a cage. In front of him sit three small house cats, imitating the tiger’s posture and face. The print is signed, titled, and numbered 338 out of an edition of 375 in pencil to the lower margin. It presented behind a black mat, under glass, in a simple black composite frame, and is ready to hang with a wire.

Edie Harper described herself as a “Jill of all trades trying to master one” since she had been successful in many areas of art including photography, wood sculpture, weaving, and jewelry design, as well as painting and printmaking. Her husband, well-known artist and illustrator Charley Harper, called her “the thinking man’s Bible illustrator.” Edie’s work has been exhibited at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Andover Art Museum, and the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati.
