Handwoven Central American Textile on a Backstrap Loom
Item Details
A handwoven Central American textile displayed on a backstrap loom. The white woven fabric features bands of narrow stripes of different colors which frame stylized depictions of various animals. The animals featured include a green horse, yellow and blue monkeys, pink and blue birds with long tails, and a pair of birds worked in pink, purple, black, and green. The intentionally unfinished weaving remains on the backstrap loom upon which it was made.
