A hand-knotted Persian Nahavand wool area rug. This rug is woven in an abrash palette of black, red, white, tawny and stone grey. It offers a unique design of six large vase forms with hooked rims, diamond fillers and tree forms along with geometric floral sprays. Flanking the center pendants are large tree motifs, animal forms, diamond repeats and comb devises. Red and black sawtooth, diamond chains and checked borders frame the field with a main border having boxed_ram’s horn_ memling guls with cruciforms at each corner using all the field colors. Selvedges are overcast in stripes, the rug finishing with natural warp fringe at either end. Unlabeled.
