1894 Seth Thomas Adamantine Clock Case with Electric Clockworks
Item Details
An 1894 Seth Thomas clock case with vintage electric clockworks. The Adamantine case for this mantel clock is black with a flat, faux-stone top and a flat marbled pillar in orange, green and black on each side of the dial. Sides are embellished with metal lions’ heads, the piece resting on a rectangular plinth. Made of gold-tone metal, the dial is round with Arabic numerals, spade hands and two no-longer-functional key arbors. At some point in the history of this piece, the original clockworks were removed and replaced by electrical works, which are now vintage. The backplate is marked ‘ST’; the year the case was manufactured is written, in reverse, on the underside.

- to poor; the clock has not been tested; electrical wiring is worn and replacement is recommended; there are scratches and scuffs; loss of finish to dial; only one of four feet remain.
