Luigi Kasimir Circa 1930 Etching "Persenbeug ad Donau"

A circa 1930 etching on paper titled Persenbeug ad Donau by well-listed Austrian artist Luigi Kasimir (1881 – 1962). The piece depicts a peaceful Danube River landscape scene lined with lush green trees, set against a backdrop of Lower Austria’s historic Persenbeug Castle. The work is signed in pencil to the lower center margin and titled in plate to the lower left. It is double-matted in cream and black and presented without glass in a black wooden and gesso frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.

Painter and printmaker Luigi Kasimir studied at the Vienna Academy of Art under Wilhelm Unger. He is credited as a major pioneer of color etching using four to six plates per print. His work has been represented by numerous institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Arnot Galleries in New York.

- foxing, toning and discoloration throughout paper and matting; abrasion to print near lower center; indentation to right side of mat board, with smudges to top; edge wear and scuffing to frame; water spots, small holes and scuffs to backing paper.
