Ink on paper
A Sunday edition of Dik Browne’s (1917-1989) comic strip Hägar the Horrible, and signed by the artist. This piece, dated “1978” and “6-11,” depicts the titular Hägar describing “a man’s destiny” to his young son. It is rendered with soft colors and dark confident penwork, and is signed with a personal message partially reading “To John Shuttleworth – Who knows a few things about destiny himself” to its lower edge. The piece is matted under glass in a black frame and includes a sawtooth bracket for hanging.
