A tufted Susan Sargent pictorial area rug. This Indian-made wool rug features a mirrored design with a celadon vase at each end of a black field. Growing out of the vases are flowering trees with leaves and buds, with birds perched on its branches. The field is framed by a wide border grounded in brown-mauve and filled with leaves and vines; corners feature images of fruit over powder blue. The palette is black, celadon, mauve, rose, lilac, salmon and shades of blue. Edges are overcast on all sides over a full fabric backing. A Kaleen label is attched to the reverse; Kaleen certifies a rug has been made without child labor. A Susan Sargent label also is attached.
