Sybil H. Connell Oil Painting "Old Fashioned Roses"

A signed oil painting on canvas titled Old Fashioned Roses by listed artist Sybil H. Connell (American, 1895 – 1983). This painting depicts a black vase filled with white and red roses sitting on a flat surface in front of a decorative gold tone plate and is signed by hand to the lower right. The painting is presented in a gold tone wood frame. A wire for hanging purposes and a decal with the title of the painting are present to the verso.
Sybil Connell received her formal art training at the John Herron Art Institute under the tutelage of William Forsyth, Otto Stark, and Clifton Wheeler, among other artists. Although she began as a fashion artist, she is primarily remembered for her floral still lifes and landscape paintings. Her work has been exhibited at numerous institutions including the Hoosier Salon, the Herron Art Institute, and the Cincinnati Art Museum, to name a few.

- could use more thorough cleaning; chipped paint and moderate wear to frame.
