Item Details
A hand-knotted and carved Erivan Turkish area rug. This plush wool rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of coral, blush, azure, cornsilk and olive. It begins with three fused polygonal medallions, each enclosing a hooked diamond. The medallions rest on a field of azure and coral amid stars and other geometric motifs. Framing the field are compound borders, including a main border grounded in blush, featuring stars and diagonal bars. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long, twisted wool warp fringe. A faded label attached to the reverse is no longer legible.
