Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Bijar carpet runner. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of jade, taupe, crimson, powder blue and ivory. It features a layered herati design beginning with three hexagonal, fringed medallions, each containing herati palmettes, leaves, flowers and geometric vinework, elements that continue in the field and spandrels. The field is grounded in jade, the spandrels in ivory, the medallions in powder blue and ivory. Framing the field are four borders, including a samovar main border over ivory. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short mesh skirts and ivory wool warp fringe. The rug is tagged ‘ABC’, ‘SAM No Child Labour’ and ’Raymond’s Home & Carpets’.
