A handwoven needlepoint area rug. This Chinese-made wool rug features an Aubusson-style floral design in a palette of rose, blush, crimson azure and sage. It begins with an oval cameo grounded in blush and filled with images of roses, wildflowers and foliage. The cameo rests on a rose field garlanded with flowers and foliage. Framing the field is a wide broken border featuring rounded corners, floral fillers and acanthus over a blush background. The outer guard border is crimson. Edges are serged on all sides under a full fabric backing. The rug is labeled on the reverse.
