Hand-Knotted Persian Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian wool area rug. The rug has been woven on a cotton foundation in shades of ivory, sienna, cinnamon, buff, mauve, robin’s egg blue, coffee, rose, russet, and charcoal. A large lobed pendant medallion is infilled with palmette, arabesque, and floral motifs which are repeated on an ivory background in the field. The spandrels are populated with scrolling acanthus leaves and flowering plants. The compound border consists of barber pole and floral minor bands flanking a wide herati band. The selvedges are overcast and there is cotton fringe at one end.
