Late 19th Century Justis & Armiger Sterling Silver Flatware Set
Item Details
A late 19th century sterling silver flatware set by Justis & Armiger of Baltimore, MD (active 1878-1892). Each piece features a flared handle with floral designed round tip, acanthus leaf accents, and a personalized engraving. The set includes eleven salad forks, eleven dinner forks, four tablespoons, eleven soup spoons, eight teaspoons, a serving spoons, a ladle, a butter knife, and a sugar spoon. They are also presented with five dinner knives that have sterling hollow handles. Also included is a serving fork by Howard Sterling Co. of Providence, RI (active 1891-1901) in the Charles C. Wientge designed Hope pattern. Each is marked to the back for silver fineness. The set is presented in a flatware chest with red felt-like interior lining. The total approximate weight, excluding dinner knives with hollow handles, is 72.550 ozt.
