Early 19th Century English Sterling Flatware with Towle and Other Sterling

A nine-piece assortment of sterling silver flatware. Featured are a pair of 1834 fiddle handle tongs by Phillip Phillips of London. They bear a ‘PP’ maker’s mark, a lion standard mark, a ‘t’ for 1834 and a King William IV duty mark. Also featured is an 1805 small fiddle handle spoon with a round bowl by George Turner of Exeter. It bears a ‘GT’ maker’s mark, a lion standard mark, an ‘I’ for 1805, and a King George III duty mark. The items are presented with a lemon fork in the Virginia Carvel pattern by Towle, a shell ladle with a gold washed bowl in the Rustic pattern by Towle, and a small ladle with a curved Sandringham handle by Dominick & Haff, a sugar shell spoon with a scroll-and-flower handle, a small plain handle spoon by Waston Co., and a pair of tongs by Whiting Mfg. Co. with scrolled trim and claw grips, and a pair of tongs by R. Blackinton Co. with a personalized engraving. The items are marked ‘Sterling’ and some bear maker’s marks. The total approximate weight is 5.370 ozt.
