Bill Schiffer Charcoal and Marker Drawings

Item Details

Charcoal on paper

A collection of seven charcoal and marker drawings on paper by New York artist Bill Schiffer (Contemporary). These geometric abstract pieces include six pieces that contain stylized, rounded figures surrounded by and cut through with other shapes, some accented with charcoal shadows. The final piece in the lot depicts a geometric composition of a circle broken into patterned quadrants. They are all signed to the lower right corner. The works are presented unmatted and unframed.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
