Item Details

A collection of three Japanese porcelain cups and a wooden crate. The mugs in this group share the same form and are decorated in complementary motifs of cranes, calligraphy and flowers, all with gilded trim and handles. Each is marked ‘Kutani’ (九谷) to the underside. The crate, likely not original to the mugs, is rustic and has black calligraphy to the exterior with partitions to the interior.

- wear to gilding; faint surface marks from prior use; box has nicks and scratches
