Bill Schiffer Oil Marker Drawings

Item Details

Other

A group of six oil paint marker drawings on paper by New York artist Bill Schiffer (Contemporary). These geometric abstractions depict columns of black shapes including zig-zag lines, small circles, squares, and a field of wiggly line segments. They are all signed to the lower right. The works are presented unframed and unmatted.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
