Dolona Roberts Pastel Ink Drawing "Pigeons"

A pastel and ink drawing titled Pigeons by listed American artist Dolona Roberts (born 1936). This sketch depicts a row of five stylized pigeons with orange and gray feathers situated against a beige background. It is signed by hand to lower right corner and matted in gray. The work is presented behind glass in a silver tone wooden frame with a paper backing and metal hanging wire to the verso. Adhered to the verso is a label specifying the title.
Heavily influenced by Abstract Expressionism and American Southwestern art, Dolona Roberts studied at the Colorado Fine Art Center and the University of New Mexico under the tutelage of renowned artists Elaine de Kooning, Randall Davey, and Kenneth Adams. She is known for her bold colors and integration of Southwestern patterns and motifs in her figural compositions. Her work has been collected by numerous institutions including the Heard Museum, the University of Arizona Foundation, and the University of Nevada, among others.
