Marie Blanke Serigraph Prints on Paper

A pair of serigraph prints on paper by well-listed American artist Marie Blanke (1879 – 1961). This pair includes one serigraph print of houses, and a second serigraph print of a landscape. Both prints are signed in graphite to the lower right corners and housed in wooden frames under glass and matboard. The versos of each frame feature small calendars from 1957 and 1959.

Based in Chicago, Marie Blanke was known for her paintings of landscapes, townscapes, and still lifes. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and abroad in England and Germany. As a dedicated promoter of the arts, she was one of the founders of the Cordon Club and a member of several Midwest artist associations. Her work has been exhibited by several art venues including the State Museum in Springfield, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Arts Club, and the Chicago Gallery Association, among others.
